Onthophagus Obliquus
$42.00
Onthophagus obliquus is a lesser-known but ecologically important dung beetle first described by French entomologist Guillaume-Antoine Olivier in 1789. Native to Africa, this beetle has also been introduced to Australia, particularly in Queensland, where it becomes active with the start of the rainy season. Though it doesn’t have a recognized common name, a fitting one, based on its appearance, might be Speckled Dung Beetle. Like others in its genus, O. obliquus feeds on animal feces, which it rolls, buries, and uses as both food and a nesting site for its larvae.
