Catacanthus nigripes, more famously known as the Man-faced Stink Bug, is a colorful and peculiar insect belonging to the Pentatomidae family. Native to parts of Asia, including Indonesia and Thailand, it’s most easily recognized by the striking pattern on its back that uncannily resembles a human face—earning it quirky nicknames like the “Man-faced Bug” and even the “Elvis Bug.” Ranging in size from about 20 to 45 millimeters, this stink bug often sports a vivid mix of reds, oranges, blacks, and blues, which act as a warning to would-be predators. It typically gathers in groups on fruit trees and other leafy plants, where it feeds by piercing young shoots and sucking out the sap.
