The Barytopus surinamensis is a mysterious and rarely documented beetle belonging to the Erotylidae family, a group commonly known as pleasing fungus beetles. this beetle’s species name hints at origins in Suriname, though confirmed sightings also exist in parts of Europe such as France. While little is known about its behavior or ecology, its dazzling navy blue, black, and white coloration makes it stand out like a jeweled relic of the forest floor. Like its fungus-loving relatives, it's likely to inhabit decaying wood or leaf litter rich with fungal growth.
